Meet The Team

Barry Sedgwick – Chair

Barry was a full-time Carer for his late wife, Nancy, and received the Hull Daily Mail Carer of the Year Award in 2017.

Barry has extensive experience, knowledge and understanding of the impact of caring, specifically with Alzheimer’s/Dementia and works with numerous support groups in the East Riding and is totally committed to improving the lives of unpaid Carers.

Elaine Peirce – Vice Chair

Elaine was the Chair of The Carers Advisory Group for several years and worked in partnership with statutory bodies and health professionals in raising awareness of the challenges faced by unpaid Carers. Elaine has an in-depth understanding of the daily challenges faced by Carers and also works at the Cherry Tree Advice Centre in Beverley one day a week advising and supporting members of the community on a wide range of issues.

Yvonne   - Events Coordinator

Yvonne cared for her husband who had Parkinson’s Disease’ she found TWC to be a very supportive group who welcomed both her and her late husband.  Yvonne, in her role as Events Coordinator, welcomes the opportunity to give something back to the group.

Maureen Slater - Treasurer

Maureen looked after her husband Cliff when he had fibromyalgia. They were married for 47 years when he passed away in 2017 and now supports her daughter. Maureen has been coming to Carers for quite a few years and volunteered to take on the role of treasurer, helps make tea and coffee and thoroughly enjoys all the things we do as a group.

Maureen Dobbs – Secretary

Maureen cares for her husband Peter, and has been a member of the group since it started in 2017.  Maureen enjoys attending the group as it has been a great source of help and advice, new friendships and being able to talk to other carers and, in her role as Secretary, to work with the team to support the work of TWC.
